Since its inception, Tor browser has helped millions of web users surf the Internet without the worry of identity theft and in complete privacy. As it is turning out, things may not be rosy to people using Tor browser. Some claim that Comcast is tracking Tor users and threatened to terminate their Internet service unless they stop using the browser. According to a report released on Deepdotweb, Comcast called Tor as illegal and anybody who uses it breaches their Terms of Service. It seems Comcast is tracking Tor.

There is air which needs to be cleared about the so-called “war” declared by Comcast. On one incident documented on the Deepdotweb report, a representative of the company warned a client against the use of Tor claiming that users who hide the IPs online are often up to something sinister and that they (Comcast) had the right to either suspend or even terminate the user’s accounts if found in violation of any term/ condition.
Is Comcast tracking Tor?
Two days after the report hit the web, Comcast’s VP of Internet services, Jason Livingood, released a statement refuting the claims. He said that the company does not monitor customers’ web usage and neither does it have a policy against use of specific software as that would be breaching their privacy.
